Paul’s Retirement

It is with joy and a bit of sadness that we announce the retirement of our great friend, Paul Black.  Paul has been partnered with Darren here for 20 years, and previous to that they worked together in Audio/Video sales at ABC Color and Sound.

Going back even further, Paul and Darren started together at the Penny Lane mall location of ABC Color & Sound  in the late 70’s, working with Ken Connoly and Wayne Piper (the original K&W).

Paul also managed another A/V retailer (Sound Advice) in Calgary in the eighties, and as the nineties approached he and Darren partnered up and purchased the A/V firm Highwood Electronics (HE Stereo) in Calgary. Success followed, and five years later they purchased the K&W Audio firm, and amalgamated the operations to the downtown location that K&W Audio occupies today. Paul had a heart attack in the summer of 2009, and at that time decided it was time to start taking it a bit easier.

While he has now officially retired, we see him dropping by the shop on a regular basis, when not spending time at his second home in Hawaii!  Good luck Paul, from everyone here, & in the industry. We will miss ya!
